Established in 1996, Desert Sage is a thriving company founded on a unique combination of innovation and “Old World” tradition. A family run business, Desert Sage centers on the diverse building experience of President, David R. Gordon, a meticulous craftsman, with over 15 years of expertise in residential construction; a career that has developed through “hands on” experience in every aspect of construction.

Professionally active on the local, state and national levels, David is a past president of the Las Cruces Homebuilders Association and received the organization’s prestigious “Builder of the Year” award in 2001. David is also a Past President of the New Mexico Home Builders Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Home Builders and Builders Trust. Involvement with these fine building organizations keeps Desert Sage constantly abreast of national and regional housing industry issues.

Michelle Gordon, Vice President of Desert Sage Building and Development, Inc., has extensive legal and real estate experience. In addition to skillfully managing Desert Sage’s main office, Michelle remains involved in every aspect of the building process, planning and design to customer service and marketing. 

Luis Martinez, site manager and foreman, has been with Desert Sage since our inception in 1996. Luis has experience with framing and finish carpentry as well as a remarkable ability to multitask. Luis is on the job everyday and always gives 150% to Desert Sage clientele and projects.

David Reed Miller joined Desert Sage in 2008 as custom home planning coordinator. David Reed is a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of design expertise. In addition to coordinating the clients’ color and material selections, they also benefit from the high level of design, presentation and communication skills that he brings to the process. This allows the client to better visualize and be much more confident of the end result, long before it’s become a reality.

In a continuing effort to improve our custom home building process, we have several personnel dedicated to customer care. Julia Harris, our Office Assistant, runs the front office and provides support, including organizing and scheduling. Brian Crawford, our “in-house” Draftsman, lends years of experience to the design and drafting of custom home plans. And finally, our Service Administrator, Janet Acosta, assists with service and warranty related matters. All bring organizational skills and a strong commitment to keeping our clients informed during the building process and providing our clients with the finest customer service possible.

In December of 2003, we began performing all of our finish carpentry “in-house.” This has enabled us to focus more time and attention on customizing molding, cabinetry and other trim details in all of our homes. Our trim team is lead by the highly skilled craftsmanship of Jesus Carranza and Nahum Martinez.
